Denmark Proper

The Kingdom of Denmark, officially known as the Danish Realm, is a country that consists of Denmark proper, as well as two autonomous territories in the North Atlantic Ocean: Greenland and the Faroe Islands. Denmark proper, also known as metropolitan Denmark, forms the mainland part of the kingdom.

Autonomous Territories

Greenland is the largest island in the world, while the Faroe Islands are a group of 18 volcanic islands. Both territories are self-governing, with their own parliaments and governments. However, they remain part of the Danish Realm and share the Danish monarch as their head of state.
